Private Postnatal Service
At St Lukes, we offer a choice for post-natal care in Tasmania’s North and North West. We are proud to provide our members a personalised private postnatal service. This service allows mothers and families the opportunity to rest and care for their baby while being supported by midwives and lactation consultants.
What is St Lukes Private Postnatal Service?
The St Lukes Private Postnatal Service offers personalised, private postnatal care for new mothers in Tasmania’s North and Northwest. Available for members delivering at certain hospitals, it provides support through midwives and lactation consultants. There are options for hotel or home settings, including a pamper package for new mums.
How to register and what happens after your register?
To register for this service, call us on 1300 651 988. Once you have registered, a St Lukes Care Coordinator will contact you to discuss your pregnancy journey, St Lukes resources, and answer any questions you may have about this service.
Hotel Service
A three-night stay at a luxury hotel with a room for you, your baby and support person.
- A comfortable bed for two people.
- Breast pump and kits.
- A baby bassinet and change mat.
- Sterilising options for formula feeding.
- Nappy change area.
- Baby weighing scales.
- Spacious bathroom.
- Tea and coffee making facilities.
- A special complimentary pamper pack.
- Up to twice daily visits from a midwife or lactation consultant.
- A complimentary consultation with a physiotherapist.
- All meals for the mother are included. Enjoy a complimentary dinner during your stay with someone special.
- A complimentary house clean by a professional cleaner can be arranged if you live within 25-kilometres of Launceston, Burnie or Devonport.
At-Home Service
North & Northwest Tasmania members who live within a 25-kilometre radius of Launceston, Burnie or Devonport* can return home after they are discharged from hospital and still receive support.
This service includes:
- Up to three days of home support.
- A complimentary pamper pack.
- Up to two home visits a day from a midwife or lactation consultant.
- A complimentary consultation with a physiotherapist.
- A complimentary house clean by a professional cleaner can be arranged.
- Support with a voucher or meals from a local supermarket.
*within a 25-kilometre radius of the Launceston General Hospital, North West Regional Hospital or Novotel Devonport.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for the services, you need to:
- Be a member of St Lukes and covered by a Hospital product that includes pregnancy and obstetric-related services.
- Have served the 12-month waiting period that applies to new members and members transferring from another insurer.
- Deliver your baby at the Launceston General Hospital or the Northwest Regional Hospital.
