Breast Cancer Awareness Month – October 2021

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Tasmanian women, one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 85.

Are you aged 40-74 and haven’t breast screened yet?

Do you know that BreastScreen Tasmania provides free mammograms for women over 40?

Mammograms can detect up to 90 per cent of breast cancers.

A BreastScreen mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. It is the best way to find cancer early. A screening mammogram can find breast cancer before it can be felt.

Screening once is not enough. It is important to BreastScreen every two years to find changes early.

Finding breast cancer early provides the most successful outcomes.

BreastScreen Tasmania continues to offer a safe and reliable service to Tasmanian women during COVID-19. So, if you are due for your next mammogram, don’t delay.
